There is such a lovely beach at
Witsand. You should see the children splashing in the
waves or the lagoon. The whales frolic right there in the
bay and my grandson Willem caught a 20 pound kabeljou in
the river! It nearly pulled him out the boat. We braaied
it for the whole family that night. We went for a lovely Sunday
afternoon walk at Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve just in
the mountains behind the villa. This is my grandaughter
Carmel playing on a natural swing in the forest there.
The trees are enormous and the wildflowers are too lovely
for words.
Of course I know
the Blue Crane is our National Bird, I just did not
realise how many there are to be seen around Heidelberg.
The kind ladies at the tourism bureau say we have the
most blue cranes in the world.
My son Jannie plays the
golf course here often. He says it is the best value for
money golf in the whole country (R40 for 9 holes!) and a
beautiful course at that. It must be good because he only
gets back well after dark and is always in a happy mood.
I have a young friend
called Cheryl who has many horses here in the town. She
takes children and adults on lots of rides. I can't keep
my granddaughters away from there.
I have never been, but I
believe you can get very adventurous with your 4x4 in the
mountains and farmlands around here.
